I received this plant as a gift. It seems to like drying out between waterings, and seems to like fairly bright light. Almost all the foliage died when I first got it, but quite a bit has grown back (I haven't gotten around to removing the old growth yet). Any idea what it is? It grows tall "grass" shoots, that have a spider like bunch of grass at the end.. these shoots stand straight up. (see photo of a baby one)?

New to these posts, I'm not sure I'll be able to find my way back to this thread again, jaws4evr@yahoo.com is my email for those who have some input into the ID of this plant.

A species of Cyperus. Closely related to the Papyrus plant that the ancient Egyptians used (Cyperus papyrus).
