Hello! I found this houseplant on a bargain cart at Home Depot, but it didn't have anything identifying it. Anybody know what it is? The closest I've seen through a google image search is Dracaena warneckii, but most of then look bigger than my plant--maybe that's just because it's a young'un though! Thanks very much.
G'day finette...I initially thought it was Dracaena but it definitely isn't warneckii, i've got one in the yard that I thought was a Dracaena deremensis Janet Craig and thanks to you I now know it is a warneckii...thanks mate!! Anyway back to your plant...the stem looks like a cordyline but the leaves look like a Dracaena...very strange. I can't positively ID it for you sorry, but I'm sure someone on here can (photopro?) Ed
OK finette...I am getting mixed up due to conflicting evidence on the net (surprise surprise) however I do believe it is a Dracaena warneckii lemon lime and BTW the one in my yard is janet craig "compacta" Ed
Ah! I had seen the lemon lime ones but didn't think they had such a distinct white stripe as mine does. Now based on this picture I think you are quite right. Thanks!
I do beleive it is this one .. i have the same thing .. ive got mine rooting in a jar right now ... it really didnt take long to root... they have a pretty variegation on them .. http://www.denverplants.com/foliage/html/drwarncn.htm Marn
The plant in question may be a recent cultivar. It looks like a cross between 'Warneckii' and 'Lemon Lime'; the former doesn't have the lighter green seen in the OP's photo. The image linked to by finette at Southern Tropicals may be incorrectly labelled. Contrast with this image of 'Lemon Lime' from the same site; it is more typical of what is sold as such.
