Someone gave me a beautiful green plant from their garden. The leaves are dark green, about 3" wide and 15" long. They are a little bit thick and similar in shape to a dracena. It seems to like low light conditions, and very little maintenance - it doesn't mind completely drying out. This spring a stem came out of the center that is similar to the leaves. There were absolutely beautiful orange flowers, bugle/trumpet like flowers. It looked like one large flower, but was actually 15-20 flowers of the shape above. The flowers now dropped (after about 3-4 weeks), and the arms of the flowers are still on the end of the leaf. Does anyone know what this plant is??? Thank you Jody
Sounds like some type of spring flowering bulb, maybe Hyacinthus orientalis (site for comparison: http://images.google.com/imgres?img...=/images?q=hyacinthus&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&sa=G) Hard to tell without a photo.
That will certainly help, but if its a houseplant than maybe Clivia spp.: http://images.google.com/imgres?img...prev=/images?q=clivia&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&sa=G Just another guess.
I believe that's the plant!!! The flowers were so beautiful. Do you know what I should do with the stems from the fallen flowers? Do I just cut off the tip where the flowers come out? I'm wondering if I can plant those... Thanks so much
