We have this plant growing on one side of our house. Can anyone here identify them? We thought they were bamboo, and maybe they are a form of it, but they are not like the Bamboo that used to be at my parents home. Thanks. If you need any closer up pictures, I can go get one. (Sorry, couldn't get the pictures to post here, so I just have the links. Thanks.
Definitely not bamboo, as bamboo would not have broad leaves. Looks like maybe another Fallopia japonica Japanese Knotweed. Check out this thread for comparison: http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=14251
It definately looks similar to the Japanese Knotwood. But the leaves on the plants here are more smoother looking. I hard very little knowledge in plants. Is there a "family" of plants that the Japanese Knotwood belongs to? Maybe it is a type within the same family of plants? Thanks for the help. I will try to look around online for info, but like I said, I don't have much plant knowledge.
The appearance can vary depending on location. Japanese Knotweed looks a little different where I am on the east coast, and I imagine there will also be variation in appearance from the Pacific Northwest to Utah. Do some google searches for Utah invasive plants and you will most likely find some images that fit yours a little better.
Thank you so much to both of you. The website link you gave me, had the website link http://www.knottybits.com/Knotweed/ and it has pictures that look just like the plants I have. It's nice to know exactly what it is. Thanks again.
