Identification: What is this pink thing? Fungus?

    Several bright orange-pink tubes have been sprouting up in my front yard the past few weeks. My husband pulled one out and claims it was smelly. Is this some kind of fungus? I love in Southern California, a few miles from the coast. Thanks.
