What is this orchid please ?

    The picture is that of an Orchid. I am really attracted by the large variety of different orchids in various places. The Orchid flowers are still some amazing and wonderful creations to me, unlike many other flowers. Will appreciate if any one name this one.

    It looks like variety of Laelia purpurata (or possibly a hybrid). I would expect it to have a nice scent as well.

    Oops! Hundreds of thousands of varieties of Laelia purpurata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Bur all are Laelia purpurata, with unity in diversity.Who is the Architect behind this exquisitely beautiful design? Thanks a lot terrestrial man.

    There are many, many people who hybridize orchids.

    Ah, evolution.

    But, before a debate starts on this issue - let me point out that they are plenty of places on the web to discuss such a thing. These forums are primarily to talk about plants. We generally don't do non-science topics, such as religion, politics, sports, etc. here.
