Can you name this flower? I'll take anything close for that matter...

    Thanks,

What part of the world was the photograph taken? What time of year?

  3. Well, this is from a movie that is being shot now in Pennsylvania. However, since it's a movie the flower could be from anywhere as it's just a prop.

I'm really just hoping I could be pointed in the right direction from a more aesthetic point of view as I have to recreate this type of flower for the movie website.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I think it could be Salvia splendens. In this species, the flowers are composed of a tubular bilabiate (two-lipped) corolla and an inflated, bilabiate calyx, which persists long after the corolla has dropped out. Unfortunately, the leaves and leaf arrangement are difficult to see. Salvias have square stems and decussate (4-ranked) leaf arrangement.

See this link to a Japanese site for a close up of the flower stalk showing the calyces with unexpanded corollas not yet showing.

I am not certain but it could be a wild flower called Indian Paintbrush. They grow on banks and bloom between June-August. I am in North Carolina. Hope this helps.
