Hi there, I would really appreciate anyones help. I have been told this is a plum tree but I want to make sure before eating. The berries are small about grape size and the whole tree is about 5.5 feet tall. I am new to gardening so I am very grateful for all help thank you everyone so much. It may help to know I am in Prince George.
I believe it is Malus, a Crab apple. http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-263...een-apple-with-five-seeds-equatorial-cut.html They are very good for making crab apple jelly. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cr...&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1271&bih=533 Plums, (Prunus) have a single stone in the middle. http://www.dreamstime.com/royalty-free-stock-photos-plum-cut-in-half-image4889828
That would be so cool...thanks silver surfer. It is interesting because not only is it there but there are so many other plants and things intertwined in the bush it makes a very interesting colour. I googled the malus and the flowers look exactly right. But there are lillies, azaleia and wild flowers all in the same mish mash growing over the fence. Thank you so much silver surfer. I have a standard crab apple tree I was going to try and do something with this year (to make something of the fruit) this will be neat to add to it. I have them and chokecherries to play with.
