Could anyone please tell me the name of this plant? I bought it a week ago, and as you can see it is not doing very well. Thank you!

Any information on how to care for it would be appreciated. I stopped watering it, but apparently that is not helping.

Does that pot have any drainage holes? I'd say too much light, not enough water, and in need of a larger home. And you got it only a week ago?---and stopped watering it? Get the poor thing into a pot with good drainage, move it out of the direct sizzling rays of the sun, and please water it.

The pot looks a bit too deep.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunatly the plant died about a week later. I finally noticed it had little white bugs all over it. I attempted to kill them, but it was to late.

Your honesty is refreshing. No excuses are necessary because it wouldn't have changed anything.

I think that, if the receipt still exists, Kayak cat should go back to the place from whence the schefflera was purchased and see if a refund could be obtained. If the plant died of an insect infestation in a week, the bugs had to have been a preexisting condition. Judging by its size, the plant probably was fairly expensive. Not only that, but it would be good to inform the plant-sellers of the bug situation: if one plant has an infestation this heavy, chances are its former neighbors might, too.

Sorry about the schefflera, Kayak cat. Sometimes we can't save 'em...but there are times when we can! Always worth a try. And lesson here is the importance of checking plants over meticulously before bringing them home. Success to you and to your plants!
