This green algae grows in normal water not salty waters, along the chanels and pods on the february and march. After those months is getsdry becasue the water is evaporated. What is the name of it? It is green and with long threads. after while it turns dark green and is like a crust.
This is just a suggestion. Try Spirogyra. Can you get access to a microscope? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirogyra http://images.google.co.uk/images?q...GB&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi In Britain they tend to be lumped together as blanket weed. Check these out also. http://www.blanketweed.info/
Sorry ariani, it is just impossible to id it from a general pic. I have merely made a suggestion, which you will have to investigate further with a live sample and microscope. http://micrographia.com/specbiol/alg/filamen/fila0100.htm
As Silver Surfer says, I am afraid that it is impossible to say without looking at it with a microscope. From its general appearance, it could be Spirogyra. A further clue would be the texture. Spirogyra is very slippery to touch and tends to slip through the fingers when you try to hold on to it. Some other similar green algae are rougher to touch. The filaments of Spirogyra are also very fine and tend not to separate into single filaments. Spirogyra is most abundant in still (not running) water and would be fairly typical of a temporary pool which dries up in summer- But...I am sorry, without a microscope you cannot know for certain. ciao Brian
thank you very much for your help. I really apprechiate it. By the way can any one tell me how to find a microscope? How much it costs? Than kyou
