What iris is this?

    Chiang Mai, THAILAND
    A friend of mine has this iris at her house in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand.
    It's now blossoming. I guess this is probably Louisiana iris or North American iris.
    Anybody can help identify the name of this plant?

    Check out Iris sibirica.There are many garden cultivars of this species.

    Thank you Luddite... but i'm not so sure about Iris sibirica. This iris seems to enjoy cool weather. Not so sure that it will blossom in tropical area like northern Thailand.
    Will look up for the cultivars on the internet and see if there is any match.

    Have you tried Iris laevigata, it grows in water.Again not sure what you can grow in North Thailand.

    Of the kinds familiar in North America it looks like a Louisiana iris. Siberian iris has much larger standards, excpt where these have been bred out of it; those of Japanese iris are often (always?) smaller.

    Many species of iris, some not well known in the West.
