the fungi was very moist and went from cream/white on the edge to a deep red in the center... any ideas?
it is quite hard to say which specie is it (at least for me), but it's surely a tooth fungus, probably Hericium sp. commonly tooth fungi aren't harmful but yet not so tasty to be edible, but there are some exceptions. hope this helps
ahh...I'll look that up. This particular one was being attacked by a green slime mold.....amazing what it was doing to it. None of those images came out worthy of showing though. It was turning the beautiful cream/white tones a florescent yellow and the red was almost black it was so green.....very icky. Thanx for the heads up...I'll go look it up. The location I found this one I go to frequently and find MANY varieties of fungi/mushroom. Almost any image I've posted on here is within this small location in Kansas.
