is this the first year they have bloomed in your garden or is this every summer bloom?

is it a bulb or roots?

i could see the pix on your instagram links above.

It looks like Clematis. Are they standing on their own or climbing on plants nearby?

yes, Wendy - I thought clematis too.

Initially, a few weeks ago I looked thru a clematis website -

a couple of the blossoms on the clematis website looked similar - for example, maybe the Original Poster can come thru this this well known grower in BC
Clematis (if it is a vine with roots)

i suppose one awaits more info from Original Poster.

on further thought - re-reading the instagram post - I think that the OP is saying that the leaves on this flowering plant are "fringed" like the way Calif Poppies are fringed - so I wonder if it is a larkspur?

(tho the center of the OP's flower looks a bit different)

we have the wild in the Okanagan - very dark purple flower, dies back completely in the winter

so I'm sure a pale mauve type could grow in Burnaby BC flower garden.

here is a photo of random garden larkspur off a google image search

EDIT - here is another image showing the flower center looking somewhat similar to OP's pictures (NB - note - I don't vouch for the healing qualities spoken of in this website link - I am referring to this as a photo of Larkspur)
