I just moved here from Calgary and i have rototilled a garden, put up the deer fencing and now i would like to plant something. Unfortunatly it took me a month to do the setup stuff, and it looks like the temperature is dropping. I have some kale, endive, pepper plants (about 2.5 ft tall) , some peas, garlic, mustard, corn salad, swiss chard and maybe a couple other things i forgot. They have been very patiently waiting to be planted, but i need to know if its too late now. I built some cold frames and am hoping that this will help. Any advice? BTW most of the plant are about 6 inches tall other than the garlic (just have the cloves) and the pepper plants

Are you talking red pepper plants?
Those are summer plants - they need the heat to mature.

It will be far too cold to continue with the pepper plants outdoors. (Cold frame will still not do.)

If they are small variety/long season like Thai chiles, they can be taken indoors and will thrive - of course, keep them above 21C and make sure they get 16+ hours of light each day. (Keeping them under flourescent light works well.)

You can try rhubarb in your frame. Chives too.

whenever i try bell peppers inside they get covered with aphids. i always try to squish all the aphids but they multiply too quickly for me. i guess i should add that i won't use pesticides... so be careful of aphids if you plant peppers indoors!

Parsley, mint, thyme, rosemary, sage, bay laurel, onions, leeks....forget the capsicums, too cold and no insolation(solar heating/energy)....
