Hello! I have 2 unknown plants growing in my new garden, and I'm wondering what they are. Any ideas? Thanks!

First one looks like it could be Hypericum (St Johns-Wort) of some description and the second one is definitely Lamium Maculatum (Dead Nettle).

The Lamium is effective ground cover but can be highly invasive. The Hypericum is aslo the same but in my experience isn't as much of a problem as the Lamium.

    Hope this helps.

#1 looks a bit like Saponaria officinalis, Soapwort, Bouncing Bet

I'm thinking the first one could be about six different things from Phlox to Tricyrtis, but a flower, which looks to be imminent, will simplify the task of ID considerably. Maybe post again when a flower shows up.
