I have a western red cedar with similar sounding symptoms to the one in this thread, but cannot explain them away with the soil compaction theory. Although, the tree has gone through some extremely arid summers of late, it is right next to a septic field (that is in good health itself) so I can only imagine that it receives ample hydration. Could there be a nutrient imbalance that might cause the wilting and thinning look the is quickly working its way down? Any nutritional additives that might be in order? Help!!
