    That's a sweet cherry or mazzard, Prunus avium. It's what's used as the root stock for most of the ornamental cherries. It's more vigorous than the ornamental scions and often takes over (this one probably started life as a 'Kanzan', so would have been a two-toned tree for a while, see (6) Magical two-tone trees | UBC Botanical Garden Forums).

    A row of Shirotae that wrap around from Bury Lane and up Stevens Drive. First photo is looking North on Stevens Drive and the second is West on Bury Lane.

    The Taylor Way Kanzan are in all their glory right now.

    It appears that the District of West Vancouver has replanted 3 Kanzan trees where they had removed some due to the construction project that has been ongoing for about 6 months. Road paving almost finished.

    Not bad weather in Horseshoe Bay on Friday, in spite of the forecast for mostly rain. Here are two 'Kanzan' across from the ferry terminal.
