West Pennsylvania unknown flower

    stands about 14 inches tall (36 CM ) no leaves except just at ground level .. like a jack in the pulpit.. photos attached..

    Verbascum, but not possible to ID to species on basis of the photos. The most common of the purple mulleins, Verbascum phoeniceum, can be ruled out, though, since the photo of the leaves are clear enough to show entire margins (the margins on V. phoenicum are crenate).
