I see that I have not posted these photos from April 18. Here is the 'Ojochin' at the Cenotaph west of the Aquarium. The 'Shiro-fugen' grove flowers were open enough to attract people to gather underneath them. I expect they would be totally open now. These are from the 18th. I have been checking on the 'Kiku-zakura' on Robson Street at Gilford, on my way into Stanley Park. From the 18th: From the 20th, at the Easter Parade I led for the VCBF, almost all flowers now almost open, so a day or two before peak bloom.
A few pix from Wendy's Easter Parade walk: Mostly 'Kanzan', one with a branch of a Prunus Avium making it look two-tone, all around Bute/Comox/Nelson And one 'Ichiyo", in the lane by Nicola & Nelson
It's New Year's Day tomorrow, 2026, and the flowers on the 'Autumnalis Rosea' trees outside the Pacific Heights Co-op on Pacific Street west of Burrard count as the new year's growth, but they've been out for several weeks. Also in bloom now are Viburnum x Bodnantense. These are shrubs with several stalks from the ground, not a single trunk; they have smaller flowers with many more flowers in a cluster, and they re fragrant. There are two of these on the Haro side of Barclay Heritage Square.
Is there an Autumnalis Rosea in bloom at the lagoon by the bike path? Saw it on New Years Day during a group bike ride but couldn't stop to photo. Hope to get back after it stops raining.
