There are still two 'Takasago' on Beach Avenue at Bidwell, of the four when I first saw them 10 years ago. The one west of this one hasn't much time left. Really, the trees look like this. But it's hard to help wanting to take photos when you can find areas on them that look like this.
Six Shirotae and one Ukon are blooming at the Sutton Place Hotel, north of Smythe on the west side of Burrard.
Nice comparison of 'Shirotae' and 'Ukon' in the last two photos. Your photos make them look attractive, almost like a good photo op, but I'm sticking with my no-longer-favourite decision. For one thing, in that space, they could have had one beautiful low-grafted unpruned 'Shirotae', not seven or eight poorly pruned ones.
The majestic Shirotae trees at Lost Lagoon draw a crowd. Great attendance at Wendy Cutler's walk today.
Great walk with Bill Stephen today ...always informative and passionate about the trees in Stanley Park.
The Ama-no-gawa trees at the BC Liquor Store on Bute and Alberni are looking good. Tall, slender and very upright - just like the downtown high-rises surrounding them.
Graceful pair of mature Shirofugen trees in an elegant setting at 1386 Nicola Street (Kensington Place). Shirofugen trees opening up in afternoon light.
Gyoiko at Stanley Park Pitch and Putt are blooming now. Photos taken of the tree outside the golf course at service road. Others inside the golf course are also blooming, but not shown.
Twelve Shirofugen trees north of the Japanese War Memorial are blooming about 50%. And the Ojochin can still attract attention, too.
Two new kids on the block...the skinniest Ama-no-gawa in town. On the northeast corner of Beach and Bidwell (Kensington Place) .
