I recently moved to Ontario from Surrey, BC and I have what looks like a weigela in my front yard. it as thorns and new growth above the flowers. Should I cut the new growth off now or later? Photos did not turn out well but I'll send them anyway. Thanks! IMG_2470.jpg IMG_2471.jpg

Quince. If you leave the most recent growth it will flower next year. Otherwise it can be shortened any time during the summer growing season. Do not cut it all the way off, rather to several nodes above where it first started.

Thanks, Ron. I remember my Grandmother using quince in the kitchen.
