Hello fellow gardeners, My weeping mulberry which I planted 3 years ago has yet to show any leaves. May 25th. I remember this happened last year, but with the very early spring of 2015 I am beginning to worry. There are some very tiny buds on the tree, however they seem not to be getting any larger. I am in Whistler BC, all my other trees are in full bloom for several weeks now. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I have posted two pictures. The one of the trunk of the tree breaks my heart as I think this is why the leaf buds haven't opened. You can see where the gardener removed the bark clear around the bottom of the trunk with a weed weaker. The other photograph shows the buds yet to open.
