    Hi All,

I have just bought my first home and the previous owners put in a lot of landscaping around the foundation of the house. Among the landscaping plants are some trees, one of which is a weeping cherry. It is RIGHT against the house and is about 6'-7' tall. I need to move it but am unaware of what variety it is. Is anyone able to perhaps describe the difference between a Higan Weeping Cherry (Which I've read can be 20'-30' tall and 20' wide) and the smaller 'Snow Fountains' or 'White Fountain', (which is 10'-15' tall). The ultimate size of the tree will definitely influence where I transplant it.

This tree has a 5'-6' straight trunk and only at the top do the branches begin and weep all the way to the ground. It does not have a normal branching pattern in the traditional sense of a tree.

    Thank for any input.

    Jim

The weeping kind is grafted on top of the straight stem of another, upright-growing cherry such as a sweet cherry (Prunus avium). Which weeping kind you have would be determined primarily by flowering characteristics, which you have not reported here.
