About three years ago we planted a weeping Cherry Tree in our front yard. Last year, the top of the tree did not blossom at all, no growth. Some new sprouts did come out of the bottom half of the tree, but top appeared dead. This year, same thing, only growth/signs of life were sprouts from bottom of trunk. Can this tree be saved, or can anything be done. Looks pretty ugly right now, in one of our beds in the front of our house. Can I do some pruning and replant it in the back of my house? Many Thanks.
Do you have a photograph? Sounds like the grafted part of the tree may have died and the living part is from the rootstock.
Could be cytospera. If it is it will move slowly so you may be able to save the tree if you cut off infected areas, but its a long-shot. Look online for pictures of cytospera to see if it looks the same.
