I bought weeping bottlebrush seeds online and have 2 plants growing nicely for about 4 months. However as they grow I have been searching images online to compare their progress and can't seem to see any likeness in mine and the photos.
I know it is early yet but..
mine are about 1 foot tall now and the last month have been sprouting small little lilac flowers on the ends of long tentacle like things. this last week the flowers drop and the tentacles burst/ spread open to reveal tonnes of little seeds on white cotton chutes. (like what happens to dandelions)
Is this normal. it seems very weedlike?
    thanks for any help

You bought Callistemon seeds and they bloomed purple on the ends of tentacles? They weren't Callistemon seeds. I have C. viminalis (weeping bottlebrush) trees, and they bloom red brushes along the branches, and then make hard little seedpods behind that.

Can you post a pic? We know what your plants aren't, but seeing them we might be able to tell you what they are.

They're weeds! I get those too in my outdoor containers and yards; I don't know what they are, exactly - but it's a good idea to at least deadhead them if not pull them up.

Hah! One man's weed is another's carefully cultivated flower.... This really proves it!

    Nevermind! :)

("A bolondok rendszerint a mezei virágokért rajongnak. A mezei virágok a föld vad gondolatai, nyílnak magoktól, összevissza. A bolondok gondolatai az érzésnek az ész által meg nem nyesegetett vadvirágai. Testvérek.")

It means something like: The wildflowers/weeds are the wild/mad thoughts of the soil, that's why mad people like them! They can understand these mad thoughts... :)))

Hm, I like the wildflowers/weeds (too)... so maybe I'm also a bit mad!? :)
