WE have a blue atlas cedar, in the ground for 1 1/2 years. Something is happening to the lower needles, approx 18 inches up from where they are close to the ground. They almost appear that they have been chewed off. There are rabbit droppings under the tree. Do rabbits 'attack' evergreen? The rest of the tree looks very healthy & the needles don't appear to have dropped off.

Yes, rabbits do; they will also chew bark off too. Put a chicken wire cage round the tree to protect it until it is larger.
