These 2 plants are growing where I planted horseraddish two years ago but they look very different from last year's plants. They are about 6" tall and grow on the Sunshine coast of BC Canada. Are they horseraddish which is going to seed or something totally different? Many thanks in advance. Margaret
it does look Armoracia rusticana (Horseradish) like, its a bit more advanced than mine, so as soon as i see a flower coming i can compare.
Thanks Oscar. The leaves looked a bit different from last year and it is the first time I have seen any flowers on. I'm glad that I posted the question as I was about to dig it up! Do you make horseraddish sauce with yours? As an ex-pat I love it with roast beef. Margaret
i'm 99.9% sure its your horseradish plant.........i grow the variegated form, which is less vigorous. Never tried using it, its only this year i have developed an interest in edible plants, herbs and medicinal plants. so if i disappear its because ive eaten or taken something i shouldnt have :D just kidding, i'll test everything on my brother lol. j/k
How long does it take for the Horseraddish to break out of the ground? I planted my one piece about 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen anything yet.
Not seeing large basal leaves typical of horseradish in plants in photo. Should be possible to tell if same plant after flowers open. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=armoracia&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
Thank you for you reply. And also, thanks for the pictures of varieties of horseraddish...at least I'll be able to recognize it as NOT being a weed when it does come up.
