I have planted several flowers fruit and vege's. The pictures on the seed envelopes don't help. I live in a new development and my house backs up to an older neighborhood. While landscaping, I am discovering roots from trees in my neighbor's yard creeping into my yard. Things are popping up all over the place. I can't tell if it's a weed or a flower I planted. I've found shrubs growing in my yard that double in size year to year (bush with pumpkins) Can you help?
    Thanks!

All weeds are plants, they're just plants growing in a place where you don't want them to be growing ;-)

The shub is too small a pic to see for definite, but it might be a privet (Ligustrum).

The tall slender plant next to the fence is a root sprout from a cherry-plum (Prunus cerasifera).

The other plant next to the fence, with compound leaves, is an ash (Fraxinus) seedling.

I agree that #2 is a root sprout but think it might be a Crepe Myrtle.

Thank you! I can now pull the weeds without worry! I did plant a trumpet vine 2 years ago but it never came up. So am happy to see it is still alive. The Ligustrum seedlings pop up in my yard all the time. Do I have to worry about any invasive roots with this plant?
    thanks!

Thank you for your assistance. The root sprout is probably a cherry plum. There are several trees in my neighbors yard that have roots shooting up in my yard. Is there a product I can put on the root to kill it and its shooters?
    thanks,
    VB

Can you start Crepe Myrtle's from seed? I had gathered some from last year and scattered seeds this year.
    Thanks,

Roundup should kill the sprout but it will be replaced by others.
