As a fresh gardener, I seldom know any plant names. All I can say is those plants come to my garden themselves, and most probably very common weeds. Please help me to name them. Thanks so much. By the way, can anyone tell me a good source to look up those plant names? Especially if all I have is some pictures but no precise description. No.1 is comparatively tiny, and kind of cute. No.2 should be some sort of vine.
No. 3 is another vine, leaves are darker, more oval like. No. 4 is very tall, over 1 meter. The flower is about to open soon. I was not sure what this plant looks like when it mature, so I let it grow till this point.
No.6 and No.7 are similar--in my opinion, but No.6 grows bigger and stronger (I guess), and leaves show much clearer wrinkles.
4 is Yellow Salsify (Tragopogon dubius) 6-7 look like Brassicas of some sort; given your location, I'd be guessing Mustard or Canola, but they could also be Garlic Mustard. A good book for Alberta's weeds and wildflowers is the Audobon Society's Fieldguide to North American Wildflowers - I used to rely heavily on it when I lived in Edmonton, to ID the volunteers in my yard. I beleive it's now published in East and West volumes; what you want is the West volume.
Thank you very much, togata and lorax. Thanks for recommending a book, I will look for it when I get a chance.
