Hello, I am having a problem identifying an obnoxious, persistant weed in my garden. I live outside Vancouver, and this weed seems to enjoy moister soils. It develops a very long taproot, which is happily resprouting if I happen to break it while trying to dig it out. It comes up with two leaves, and if left alone could easily grow to 45cm. It develops many leaves which have a centre light green vein on dark green leaves. They are like an elongated oval, with a point at the top, the stem is mult-ribbed, and the edges of the leaf are curly. It seems to get a bit of a red tint in the sun. If anyone can help me identify it, I would also like to know the best way to kill these damn things. I don't think digging them up is the answer, unless I find them when they have just emerged. A weed burner? any organic ideas, I won't use an herbicide, so I need help. thank you, Trish
