A reason i joined this board, besides the happenstance of finding it in a web search for a question, is so i can have a little bit of a guide to botany. I have considered attending UBC but am lacking the funds. Your site is very good for info but can u list a few resources for beginner to advanced (hobby botany). Complete web based books would help greatly. Off the subject a little but if colleges made books available for free or a nominal charge (0.50$ a month) on the web there would be great results. I say colleges because the book companies will not do this, but there is hope an author might see my post. I have found a few texts on the web but not enough yet, think of it almost free learning.
graywolf, if you've been following the Botany Photo of the Day, you'll note it's often accompanied by botanical resource links. All of these are catalogued here: BPotD Bookmarks. If you click on the word "botany" in the column where it says "tags", it'll restrict the listing to just botanical resources. Another great place to start is Wayne's Word
Sweet thanks Daniel, yea wickipedia has been nice to me, and those 2 look nice i'll be at them all this week :) ok how to say it without seeming snooty i kinda want the degree without the credentials. Like what would i know at the end of a pure botany associate or bachelor degree minus all the off topic courses like english and math (they have their place and that is grade school). I know, i need course outlines and such. Here is a project someone could do hopefully for me. Design the perfect study plan, for someone that has an interest in botany with a focus of breeding. It would include books, websites, articles, and video. That is what i have been searching for for about a year now. I read most of a bio 1 book in my free time a few months ago and have an idea but could use a little mentoring, more direction. This could take a little time to come up with but it will advance my studies and others by a profound leap. Thanks in advance :)
