I am looking for a laceleaf maple that will tolerate about 3 hours of direct afternoon sun. I was thinking about waterfall or Garnet. I live in northern California, and the spot is wind protected. Will either of these adapt to the late sun?
Depends on the conditions of the spot. If the area will be watered enough to keep situation cool and humid in summer plant may maintain satisfactory appearance.
I don't have a garnet, and st. louis certainly different conditions than northern california... But I can say waterfall does great out in the afternoon sun here. good luck
