Barbara Day and I saw the specimen of which the photo appears in Justice: Ornamental Cherries in Vancouver. On April 28, petals were falling abundantly from this tree on the NW corner of Balsam and 47th Ave, but there were enough intact to have a close look. The blossoms show the reddish centering that seems to happen as the flowers age, and this feature adds to the quiet beauty of this tree. See photos in Kerrisdale.

Not a timely posting, adding two locations:

New Westminster: two trees in Queen's Park at Vancouver St. ID is tentative. See photos.

Thank you! The ones in the park are on our map, but not photographed in bloom. I hope the flowers hang on till Monday. I think I can get there.
