Bought a non-heating humidifier from CT (Canada's Store as the flyers state). First fill showed deposits from our very hard water. Bought a Zerowater demineralizer to fill it with. No difference. We quit using them because of the buildup of deposits on our living room windows. Its probably affecting my plants too. Zerowater filters might be doing their job, but not for long and the filters are really expensive. Altogher not worth the powder to blow'em to... um ... well not worth the money. Any suggestions? We're on hauled water from a country treatment plant.
Nope. Have a look at my post under "What's the weather like?" We've harvested the snow melt from the roof when it was above freezing and will again when it thaws. Not real confident about scraping it off the deck... So I'll park the humidifier until I can get some untreated water and try it again. Might try a ten gallon canning pot on the woodstove. Its a dry house. (As in humidity) Other parameters: Heat: Toyostove oil fired. Woodstove. Pollutants: Propane cookstove. Thanks JK, you're the best!
Old pot that you don't care about on the woodstove is probably the reasonable option. Clean it out with CLR once in a while, then do it all over again.
