I began to start a thread last week making suggestions on how to start your own plant website. Due to a rather obnoxious email which came shortly after I posted the thread, I elected to ask Daniel to take it down. I'm glad to share information which may be helpful with any of you, and I know some are interested in creating their own plant site since a few have already asked. My site is non-commercial, so I have no interest in who has the better site on the web. I just do it because I enjoy reading about plants and now just publish my notes as pages on my the site.

So if you'd like to know some of what I've learned, please send me a note. You can find my email address by clicking on the link below to my personal plant website, www.ExoticRainforest.com Some of you have already shot me private notes asking why the thread came down. And I've already shared what I've learned with a few. So if you are interested in doing a garden type website, send me a note.

Due to the help of a very talented web designer, I've been able to learn some tricks that may help you to get your site on the top few pages of Google, MSN, and Yahoo. And after all, what is the point of putting up a site if you really don't want anyone to find it? Please just drop me a note and I'll send you what I originally posted.

Thanks Steve, I have been inspired by yours and many other web sites, to get my own going. I enjoy the botanical content, as well as just looking at pretty photos. Sometimes I don't know what plants I want until I see other peoples, and if I like it I have to have it
BTW congrats on your 1,000 posts ; )

Well shoot! I didn't even notice until you mentioned it.

Start that website! There is tons of room on the net for plenty of good sites on plants. Many people detest the approach I take with botanical content, (boy, do I hear it) but a bunch of people send me notes saying they love it. So I have no plans to change the way I write the content. But there is certainly room for many other view points.

So get started! And I'll be glad to give you an inbound link on my links page! Just get your URL and send it to me! And that goes for just about anyone with a descent site on tropical species.
