Im new to growing vines, and from my experiances with other plants
I would say that the plants arent doing well.
Ive planted sugar baby(watermelon) and jack o lantern(pumpkin) vines

The stems seems a little over elongated, but I would assume this is normal?

They are about 6-10 CM in length. have nice green color. including the seed leaves
but are just getting longer, theres no evedence at all of any new growth
not from the sides of the stem(for horizontal) or from between the leaves.
Not even in the slightest. longer and longer
They are resting sideways on the grown(although the stems are thick and strong)
Im worried they will rot on the wet soil. or something else will happen

Im basically worried why they just keep getting longer and longer.
yesterday one of the plants shot about 5cm in one day. leaves arent any bigger
and like I wrote earlier. no signs at all of new leaves or stem growth.

    1) Is this normal for vines?
    2) If this is normal, when should i expect to see new leaves/stems?
    3) If its not, what could be the cause

They are planted in hills, spaced exactly as instructed by the nursery
other then that they know nothing of plants... grrr

Other things to note. They are planted 8 seeds per hill
and I was instructed to thin out the weak when they grew out.
But since they arent doing that properly i havent yet.

Basically i need a full story from a vine pro.

im starting to ramble cause im kinda worried so ill end it here
thanks for any help/advice in advance
