preparing potted vines for winter in Port Coquitlam, BC

I have a large trellis around my patio and have picked up star jasmine and passion flower vines to grow on it. Someone told me they did not think they would be able to last the winter here. What are the chances of them making it through the winter? Is there anything I should do to protect them. They are growing in separate pots, and south facing, with full sun. Also, should I keep them separate, or will they compete if allowed to grow together on the trellis?

Being up the river may be a problem but your main problem will surely be that they are in pots - making them much more vulnerable to cold than they would be planted in the ground.

Minter Gardens might be a good place to look for locally suitable choices.

Thanks, but since I've already got them, I'm not going to go out and buy other plants. What I'm looking for ways to give them the best chance of survival.

Minter Gardens is 1:30 drive inland from where I live and gets far colder. The climate in Port Coquitlam, is closer to that of Vancouver or Burnaby.
