Was out on a hike in the pacific northwest when I came upon an odd Acer Circinatum. The surrounding vine maples were all a regular green but this one appears slightly variegated. I suspected color disfiguration due to shade or even chlorosis. But I'm rather interested given the other trees in the area have normal foliage. I returned to the same hill side to find two more similar trees. Possibly a disease?
I've never seen this before. Could have horticultural potential but it is suspicious that there is more than one in the same spot. Herbicide injury? The others are definitely separate individuals, and not on the ends of long serpentine branches that connect back to the same crown as the section shown?
