I have an island of verigated vinca under 3 or 4 trees. It seems the only thing that grows through it is bulbs, ivy, and trumpet vine. Does anyone know what I can plant in the island that won't get choked out by the vinca? I want to plant hostas throughout the bed but I don't know if they will survive. I found one lonely one under some vinca the other day when I was removing the rocks that used to outline the bed that the previous owner let get over grown. The vinca has grown about 2' past where the original border was. Help! I want a pretty variety of plants there not just vinca. The attached photo is not of my vinca, just an example of the type I have.
