I purchased a plant at my local nursery. After I put it in the ground at home I noticed a weird lichen-like (?) plant growing at the base. I returned this to the pot it came in with some soil. It's now growing there albeit slowly. I have never seen anything like it. I tried researching it, but really don't know where to start. It is green and red, approximately 3 inches in diameter now, totally flat, rosette (floral) shaped (like many lichen), but feels more like a succulent. It has these cup-shaped growths on it and if you look closely (I used a loupe) there are little green plants (?) growing in them. What is it?
common weed in nursery production, usually shows that the nursery waters too often and has poor air circulation as it need damp surface soil to proliferate, I think its called Lunularia cruciata - crescent cup liverwort http://oregonstate.edu/dept/nursery-weeds/weedspeciespage/liverwort/lunularia/Lunularia_cruciata.htm
