I thought more pictures might help

I guess no one knows the name of this plant. It is now 8 feet tall. The new leaves are heart shaped; red and slowly turn green with red veins. It started growing in the back of a ten year old rose bed so I'm sure it was seeded by a bird or raccoon dropping. I am in So Cal.

Looks a lot like the emerging leaves of Fallopia, or knotweed. Can you take a photo of the stem to confirm?

You guys are great. I had to seek help in BC to answer my question. Thank you very much. It is a very beautiful plant. I hope it can handle being moved from my rose bed. The seed traveled a long way to Huntington Beach, CA

Well, David is from LA, and we try to keep the boards as international in scope as possible re: the BC comment. It's a bit of an interesting thing having forums attached to a physical site, since the web is by its nature not restricted by geography.
