    Hi,

I've had a worm bin going all winter, and have been adding food scraps and paper shreds to the soil/paper starting mix. The worms seems to be doing fine, but there's a tiny white bug of some kind (can't see what, it's too small) that's covering _everything_. It appeared at some point during the winter, quickly covered all the surface and into the compost, and then seems to have stalled...but I don't watch the bin, so they may move, just very slowly. I encountered this same problem last year, so I kept a few of my worms, washed them really well (I'm sure they loved that), and started them afresh in this bin. My problem is that now that I've got some good vermicompost, I want to use it on my plants...but I'm afraid of what these tiny buggers will do to live plants! Let alone if I spread them on my garden!

Can anyone help with some advice? I really don't want to lose the stuff I spent all winter carefully preparing....Thanks in advance!
    Katherine

I'm updating in case anyone else has this problem.
Online sources seemed to id the bugs as harmless. I took the worm bin outside as soon as it warmed up and let it sit out in the open. All the bugs disappeared, but my worms were fine. I separated the worms from the finished castings, started a new bin and fed my plants with the castings. No white wigglies! All's going well. =)
