Velvety plant

    Please, can you help me identify this plant.
    I bought it at a local store, and the saleswoman could only tell me that the name was "(something) Indian", I don't remember the something part :D.
    I fell in love with this plant when I saw it, but I don't know how to take care of it, it's growing habits, nothing.

    It has a velvety feeling in the leaves and what I think are bracts.

    The saleswoman told me she thought it was a shrub. It is like 50 cms tall. It looks fragile.

    It has some characteristics of dogwood. Do the individual flowers have 4 petals?
