One of my palmatum seedlings has white dots (not fungus) on it´s 3rd coupple of leafes. Is it possible in this early stage of the plants life to say that it some day will be some sort of varigation?
as you know seedlings can vary in characteristics as they age as much as our children (our seedlings) do - dramatically; but having said that i truly hope that variegation on your 1st leaves remains because i find it interesting indeed. keep me up as this seedling ages - I germinate a lot of seedlings but do not have a palmatum quite like that. Thank you for sharing that.
Looks like a leopard or something. It reminds me a little of the heavily variegated leaves on Sagara nishiki, but still different. I've had seedlings show strong variegation on the cotyledons then come out normal green or red. I've had seedlings show variegation on the first true leaf pair like yours, but have no variegation afterwords. However, I too hope that variegation stays because it is quite unique.
I , luckily, have 4 varigating seedlings last year. However, they are weaker than the regular one and none of them make it through the year. :(
