Would love some assistance identifying this plant! There is speculation it is a type of knotweed (and it may very well be), but all pictures/info I can find of knotweed/smartweed varieties have: a) upright flowers; and b) smaller, narrower leaves. The closest I've found to the bloom is pink smartweed, but the leaves are quite different. This plant is over 6ft tall, with gracefully arching blooms that are an intense bright pink (and attract bees!); some of the larger leaves are a good foot long by 6 inches wide. (It's looking a bit stressed as I don't water out there, and amazingly, we've had no rain recently here in the PNW!) Is this smartweed on steroids?

    Thanks for any insight!
