I would like to grow red and green table variety of grapes (preferrably seedless). Presently I know of three varieties of blue gapes that will grow here: concord, valiant and frontinac. They are not seedless. Though most of southern Alberta does not have a conducive climate for growing other varieties, there is a narrow area above the Montana border that is more temperate than the rest of the province. Can anyone recommend table grape varieties that may grow here?
I think your limiting factor may be winter hardiness. What zone are you? Three varieties to investigate: Einset which originated in Ney York State, and Interlaken from BC's Okanagan region. Both are early ripening seedless "green" grapes. Also Vanessa Red from Ontario, described as "fairly" cold hardy, seedless red Flame type. Try Mori Vines in Ontario, 905-468-0822. Ralph
Howdy Jon, I'm in Brooks and I think there is no seedless grapes that is hardy for us. Ripening is another problem; we do not have sufficient heat and frsot free days. The only one seedy grapes that I have consistent results every year is Valiant. Even Beta does not ripen in some years. Our problem is further compounded by the warm Chinnok and lack of snow cover.
