A friend sent me this: Photo opportunity: Langara Golf Course to improve ‘urban golf experience’ by planting more than 400 trees Media are invited to join Vancouver Park Board staff and Environmental Studies students from Langara College for the planting of more than 400 native trees and plants at Langara Golf Course. What: Photo opportunity When: Friday, November 23, 2012 at 10:30 – 11 a.m. Where: Langara Golf Course, 6706 Alberta Street (about 100 metres from the clubhouse) The initiative at the 48.5-hectare (120-acre) Langara Golf Course supports the City of Vancouver’s Greenest City Action Team’s target to plant 150,000 trees by 2020, as well as the Park Board’s commitment to healthy ecosystems. Part of the planting area will be naturalized, requiring minimal maintenance and providing wildlife habitat, while two ponds give sanctuary to more than 100 species of birds and waterfowl. The planting also serves to enhance the golf course’s status as a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Media Contact: Daria Wojnarski 604-257-8440 or 604-561-6925
