I posted the Washington state champion Liriodendron in Mt Vernon, so here's a posting of what I was told might be the Vancouver BC champion. It's on private property behind a fence on Harwood St, north side between Bute and Jervis. Before the caretaker escorted me out, he told me it was planted in the 1880s, is about 35m tall, and because it's the champion Liriodendron, the owner of the property has not been given permission to tear down the house and redevelop the property. That's the story, anyway. The trunk isn't nearly as broad as the Mt Vernon one, but I wasn't able to get near it to measure it because of the plantings around it. You can see that it's taller than the 10-story building pictured in the third photo.

Gotta say, after seeing what was once the third-largest Liriodendron in North Carolina, this one doesn't seem as ... impressive.
