Good morning, this forum is new to me, so please be kind. We bought our home two yrs ago this June, we have these beautiful flowering shrubs in front of our porch (they were here already when we bought our home). My question is, last month we noticed this vine growing up through the center (it's not connected to the shrubs). My husband broke it back when he trimmed our shrubs. Four days ago we noticed that it was back and up over the shrubs, within noticing it four days ago, it has already climbed 12-14 inches. One of the leafs that is attached to the vine is about 4inches with one point, it has thorns on the vine (which remind me of rose bushes). We also noticed last night as we were pulling out of our drive way, the woods across the street from our front yard has this same vine growing in there. Any help out there?
    Thanks
    Mary

ID questions about southeastern USA vines with thorns is usually a species of Smilax (commonly known as greenbrier) (see this thread.

If you can't post a photograph, have a look through the various images of Smilax available from the USDA PLANTS database
