We have flower box's in the apartments we live in here. I never used mine. A former resident, for reasons I have never figured out, planted some strange plants in my box before she got kicked out and left for parts unknown. I decided recently to use my flower box, and noticed the weird plants she placed in there last summer, are now growing, something they've never done. I don't want to just rip them out and kill them.. they are kinda pretty. But I kinda need a ID so I know if they will harm the new stuff I've put in the box. Or if I need to remove some..there are quiet a few in the box! any help would be appreciated. I've been trying, but no luck at all.
hi It is commonly called Hens and Chicks due probably to the clusters of small rosettes that form around the mother plant. It is an interesting and useful ground cover, as it can be used in a hot site, grown in pots or even in succulent wall plantings.
